| Transportation on the island of São Tomé
There is a local bus line Linhas Verdes to 3 main destinations: Neves / Santa Catarina in the North, Angolares / Portalegre in the South and Monte Café/ Trindade in the Interior. They all depart from the square in front of the Municipal Market starting at 4.10 in the morning, and then later in the day when they are full.
The price is between 5.000 and 20.000 STD.(2010)
The taxis leave from the same square (at the other side of the Municipal Market) and they depart to the different regions once full (ca. 5 persons). If you hire a taxi on your own, be prepared to pay the same rate as for 5 persons plus the journey back to the square !
As there are few taxis in the airport, we advise tourists to organize transfers beforehand to and from the airport.
